What is Songkran?

Songkran is one of the popular festival in Thailand. It is called water festival. Songkran is an important Buddhist calendar Thai New year. It takes plances from 13-15th in April every year. 

The meaning of Songkran is that comes from a Sanskrit word meaning passing and approaching. It washes away the previous year so people get ready for next new one. They clean houses, schools and offices etc. They spend time with family. They wake up early during Songkran and visit Buddihist. Young people pour water on the hadns of elderly relatives and friends for blessing next year. 

Also, young people celebrate modern day Songkran festival with water fight. Most people from Thai and even other countries participate water festival and celebrate Songkran festival in April.

1. Protect your phone and camera with plastic bag and need to have waterproff cameras suit 

2. Have fun in major place like city 

3. Say 'Sawasdee Bpee Mai' = Happy New year!

4. or Suksan wan songkran = Happy Songkran Day!
